About US
The Oxon Hill Recreation Club (OHRC) is a private, non-profit swimming pool established in 1955 to provide recreation for families in the south section of Prince Georges County, Maryland. The pool is enclosed by quiet woods and adjacent to park land, a golf course, a community center, Knights of Columbus hall, and hiking and biking trails. This in-ground Olympic sized pool offers a quiet respite on hot days to swimmers in a truly unique setting without the noise and frenzied crowds of the local public swimming pools. Situated on 11 acres, OHRC boasts a high diving board (one of the few in the county), low dive, a baby pool, horseshoe pit, jungle gym, sand pit, baby swings, big kid swings and a picnic area. In its heyday, OHRC had a functioning tennis and basketball courts, but as many families moved away from the county in the 1980’s, the pool’s recreation areas fell into disrepair.
Today, some of the equipment needs restoration and the activity areas are in need of rebuilding. However, with the love and support of its members, OHRC is making improvements and rebounding slowly. When open, the pool is able to offer longer swimming days than nearby public pools, a competitive PMSL Swim Team, a lively and popular water aerobics class, life guard classes, and activities ranging from camp-outs, movie nights, private parties, multi-cultural themed events, and even a doggie day where dogs get to enjoy the pool before it closes for the season. Day camps, and a synchronized swimming team also find a home at the pool. There is truly something for everyone. Come out and enjoy a swim. We are the Proud Home Of The Hammerheads Swim Team
